Deixou-me no mesmo instante curiosa.
Apresentei-me e cumprimentei-as.

English version

Under the scope of my interest in projects that promote civic participation, I would like to tell you about Florescer - Associação de Educação Global, a non-profit organization born in 2012, from people who did not revert to traditional teaching as a learning system for their children.

I went to meet Teresa Mendes, president of Florescer, at the garden of  Aciprestes, in Linda-a-Velha.
When I arrived I realized there were two more ladies, starting to sort out what I suspected was a picnic. A group of children quietly played very close by. I was immediately curious.
I introduced myself and greeted them. After taking a few moments for their organization, I accompanied Teresa to a nearby cafe.

Teresa is a nice lady, who immediately transmits great serenity.
She explained to me that although her basic education is management, what she is passionate about is education.
With admiration, I quickly realize that the initial serenity that she conveys is in no way incompatible with a strong dynamism!
My interlocutor presented herself as co-founder of different organizations, among them Florescer.
She explained to me that this organization has the mission of working for the integral development of both children and communities, so that they can take an active and responsible presence in the world.
It works by implementing and facilitating the implementation of a global education, converging the areas of education, ecology, health culture, technology and social solidarity.

As our conversation goes on, the words innovation and entrepreneurship come up frequently and clearly the association advocates a holistic approach as a strategy to promote these pillars.
My area is not Education, but my visit to Projeto Âncora (in Brazil) and knowing about Escola da Ponte (in Portugal, Santo Tirso), for already some time I have been surrendering to this type of approach. And yes, I think it is difficult to argue that traditional teaching promotes people's creativity or pro-activity ...

Florescer develops its activity essentially in three areas:
- Global Education - focused on active and global participation. It involves children and young people and all those who are part of their world (families, teachers, counselors, volunteers, among others).
- Trans-Training - aims to support and develop innovative actions in education, both for teachers and the community (lectures, workshops, internships, consultancy, etc.)
- Community Networks - the association bets on networking and sharing of practices and knowledge with other organizations, both national and international.

In fact, the association is part of Rede Educação Viva- which puts in contact people, groups and projects that advocate this type of education. Therefore, if you live in Portugal you can search for projects near your home.

I have also had the opportunity to visit the facilities of Florescer and to verify that, although it is not a very large space, it is very pleasant and the children are very calm to develop their activities peacefully. In other words, it is not because they are not sitting at secretaries looking at board that they are screaming, they do not learn or they do not respect others.
They get used to research, they gain autonomy and responsibility. Well ... here education goes to meet each child and not the other way around (reviewed by Ricardo Domingos).
